Device Status and
Troubleshooting
Labeling
Recorder does not print
the label.
The ink cartridge is empty.
The ink cartridge is clogged.
The ink cartridge still has the protective
seal on it.
Install a new cartridge.
Run the Clean Ink Cartridge utility; refer
to “Cleaning the Ink Cartridges” on
page 11-14.
Remove the ink cartridge and peal the
protective seal from the cartridge.
Printed label has
ghosting.
The ink cartridge is out of alignment. Run the Align Ink Cartridges utility.
Refer to “Aligning the Ink Cartridges” on
page 11-13.
Printed label is not
properly centered on disc.
The ink cartridge is out of alignment. Run the Align Ink Cartridges utility.
Refer to “Aligning the Ink Cartridges” on
page 11-13.
Print is light, there is
banding or gaps, or there
is no print image.
The ink cartridge is low or out of ink.
The ink cartridge is clogged.
Replace the ink cartridge. Refer to
“Installing Ink Cartridges” on page 2-30.
Run the Clean Ink Cartridges utility.
Refer to “Cleaning the Ink Cartridges”
on page 11-14.
DVDs are labeled as
CDs.
(Virtua 1 models only.)
DVDs are loaded in an input bin that is
assigned to CDs.
Make sure that the correct media type is
loaded in each bin, as specified by the
bin’s assigned media type. To
determine the current bin media type
assignments, refer to the Media
indicators in the Dashboard.
Boxes or incorrect
characters are being
printed.
The locale is not set correctly. Set the locale for the region in which the
device is being operated. Refer to
“Setting Up the Locale Profile” on
page 9-7.
Japanese (or other East
Asian) characters run
together.
Standard-size labels are being used in
a Japanese (or other East Asian)
region.
Use the Wide version of the label.
